Our wedding would not have been complete without the right vintage elements to complete the atmosphere. As I stalked my favorite wedding bloggers on Instagram, I noticed so many beautiful pieces of rented furniture and tableware. Every vintage wedding I found online seemed to take place in California and any dreams I had of authentic vintage pieces fluttered away when I was unable to locate a vendor in Michigan. Until my florist recommended I look into a local vintage rental company called Rusted Rose Rentals.
I reached out and made a connection with Brittany Olson, the brains behind the enterprise. Let me tell you, Brittany has every woman’s dream job! She began collecting antique china plates and glasses for her own wedding. I admire any female entrepreneur chasing her passions and Brittany has successfully launched her personal collection of antique tableware into a full collection of vintage treasures, many of which were used to set the stage for our wedding reception.
Tabletop items were my first priority. Rob and I had already decided that we were going to personalize the reception with woodburned dinner plates (more information on that project coming soon), but we thought it would be an elegant touch to use mismatched antique china for our salad plates. We initially met with Brittany just to discuss and price out the salad plates, but once we saw her inventory, we fell head over heels in love and knew that her other items would help complete our vintage atmosphere. The dining tables at our reception looked elegantly charming with rose goblets and mismatched flatware at each guest’s place setting.
The tables were adorned with beautiful mercury glass votives, which also came from Rusted Rose. As the evening progressed and the sun set, our tent had the most gorgeous glow.
And then there was the sofa! Rob and I LOVED the gold sofa the moment we saw it and both knew it would be such a fun statement piece to have at our reception. I follow Rusted Rose Rentals on Instagram and I practically squealed with delight every time Brittany shared a photo of the gold sofa. It gave me tingles and made me even more excited for my own wedding.
I knew how much I loved the sofa, but I never anticipated that it would become one of the main attractions at our wedding. It seemed as though all of our wedding guests took turns having their picture taken on the antique piece of furtniture. It was far less expensive than having a photo booth and the novelty was enjoyed by all of our guests.
Our card table displayed two of our own antique typewriters and a blue suitcase I had found to serve as our card box, but we rented an ivory suitcase from Rusted Rose to use as an accent piece and add some height to the display.
As a final vintage touch, Rob and I used an old white door to display our escort cards. It fit the theme perfectly and the use of clothespins helped ensure that the escort cards wouldn’t blow away!
Our ultimate goal for the wedding was to make the evening as memorable and special for our guests as it was for Rob and I. Every single detail worked toward that goal and the vintage rentals we acquired from Rusted Rose were the icing on the cake! Brittany was completely professional to work with and I loved giving my business to a like-minded woman with a passion for what she does.
Rusted Rose Rentals proudly serves the Metro area of Detroit and Ann Arbor. They also travel to locations in Traverse City, Grand Rapids, Benton Harbor and other Lake Michigan wedding venues. Follow Rusted Rose Rentals on Instagram and Facebook.
