Now that you’ve had a chance to peek into the frame selections that arrived in Rob’s David Kind box, I wanted to show you the items that arrived in my shipment. Just in case you’re confused, this is Maria. Rob could attempt to explain the frames that arrived from David Kind, but I thought it would be best if you heard it straight from me ;) You can read about Rob’s frame selections on the first page of this post by clicking the image below. Maria’s Selection #1: The Raleigh in Havana
Remember the Raleigh frames that squeezed Rob’s face too much? I had the same style in a different color in my David Kind box. Rob will be the first to admit that he is a simple man who needs a lot of direction when it comes to anything style related. These decisions come more easily for me and I pour over style details before ordering anything online. My frames were no exception.
I have a very narrow face and most eyeglasses look huge awful on me when I try them on. I was concerned that I would have a box of frames that didn’t properly fit my face so I did my research. I was happy to discover that David Kind provided fit information about every frame in the style description. You can see it in small print at the bottom of the description (Sizing: 49-18-143) I don’t know what any of that means, but the words beside it put those numbers in plain and simple text.
Fit:Small.
Count me in.
The Raleigh may have been too tight for Rob’s face, but they fit my face perfectly. I wasn’t in love with the shape of the lenses, though. They were a little too rectangular for me and this pair of frames looked like they were always slipping down my nose (even when they were pushed up all the way). The size may have been right, but the style didn’t quite suit me.
Maria’s Selection #2: The Laurel in Granite
The second pair I selected was the Laurel in Granite. I liked the idea of a soft brown frame and wanted to try something a little more subtle. Plus, they had a small fit. Ugh. These were so not my style at all. I’m sure there are plenty of women out there that could totally rock these glasses, but I felt like I was wearing a pair of mens frames. They were not for me after all.
Maria’s Selection #3: The Presley in Cerulean Blue
I had one last frame from my selections to try on: The Presley in Cerulean Blue. I chose this pair not only because of the small fit, but also because the subtle blue tone just sort of spoke to me. I adore neutrals and often dress in mostly neutral colors. I liked that these frames stepped slightly out of my neutral comfort zone, but only offered a hint of blue. I will never be wild enough to wear a pair of bright red or green eyeglasses, but blackish blue is definitely something I was willing to try.
The lighting in my photo isn’t doing much to show off the subtle blue color, but it does let you see the shape of the frame and how they look on my face. I tried this pair on and couldn’t stop looking at them in the mirror. It was a different look than I am used to seeing, but I was definitely intrigued!
Maria’s Stylist’s Selection #1: The Presley in Rosewood
My stylist, Sami, included a note in my shipment that said I had made great selections for the size and shape of my face (I had uploaded a photo to my profile when I created my account – more information on that can be found further in the post.) Sami liked my selections SO much, that she actually sent the Presley frame in a second color: Rosewood.
The reddish hue was reminiscent of a tortoise design and I knew that I already loved the Cerulean Blue pair that I had tried on. I eagerly reached for the Rosewood. This pair of frames was ok, but the color wasn’t as interesting as the blue pair I had selected. The Rosewood pair was going back to David Kind.
Maria’s Stylist’s Selection #2: New Rose in Bliss
Next up was the New Rose in Bliss. These were not characterized as a small frame and I could tell. They looked wide when I tried them on and it wasn’t a look that I loved.
Maria’s Stylist’s Selection #3: Trenton in Pine
The last pair I tried on was the Trenton in Pine. I didn’t know what to think about the shape of the frame, but I was curious to see if the green shade would bring out the color of my eyes. When I tried the glasses on, I knew right away that they were not for me. They looked big on my face. I looked it up and sure enough, they were not characterized as a small fit.
You may have noticed that Rob was also sent a pair of Trenton glasses. His were in Glacier Gray and they suited him well. The frames looked much better on his wide face than they did on my very narrow face.
To be fair, I looked at every pair of frames available to women and I selected the only 3 small fit options available. My stylist, Sami, didn’t have any more styles for a narrow face to include in my shipment because I had probably already selected the frames she would have recommended.

The ones you chose look great!!
I remember reading about David Kind glasses on another blog some time ago, but wasn’t in the market for a purchase at that time. The timing of your blog and such detailed information came at a perfect time. I would absolutely love to get a new pair of glasses and to have 6 options is a wonderful idea. But my favorite reason for purchasing glasses this way is that I will have an opportunity to ask my family and friends for their input etc. I am so indecisive on simple purchases, so to get glasses that I will wear every day for years is too overwhelming to do on my own! Ha!
I have a question though. I am overdue for an appointment with my optometrist and will do so very soon. When I am done with that appointment, do they give me the results so that I can email those to David Kind (once I have selected the style of glasses I want)?
Glad our post was able to help, Kim! When I went to the optometrist, I just asked for a copy of my prescription as I checked out. They should give it to you, no problem. I scanned that in and emailed it to David Kind. Hope that helps!
