Maria and I are about to start packing our bags for our next trip. This time, we’re heading down to Nashville, Tennessee. We’re pretty excited as neither of us have been there before. But we have one big reason why we chose Nashville as our next destination. I’ll give you a second to guess.
Ok, any guesses? If you said because we’re going to see Dave Ramsey, you’re right! We are super excited to announce that we are going to do a Debt Free Scream on the Dave Ramsey Show!
For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, Dave Ramsey has a radio show which is broadcast around the country and also available as a podcast online. Dave will have guests on his show all the time to tell their story about getting out of debt and then the guests get to scream “I’m debt free!” live on the air.
Maria and I have already started putting our notes together about how we paid off my $180,000 in student loans and the $73,000 mortgage I had on my house so we don’t forget when we’re speaking to the man himself, Dave Ramsey. We’re a little nervous, but so excited!
We also started gathering a few photos from our journey out of debt. It’s kind of amazing to look back and see how far we’ve come. We completed our chart, got married, changed houses and I apparently lost a bunch of weight and shaved my goatee off. I think I look younger now than I did back when we started.
If you are trying to dig yourself out of debt like we did, our free editable chart can help!
We will be on the show on Monday, February 15, 2016. And since that’s the day after Valentine’s Day, we decided to make a weekend of our trip to Music City. We have never been to Nashville and are looking for some of the must-see and must-do things in town. Anybody have any suggestions?
We’re super excited for our Nashville trip and getting to do the Debt Free Scream. And who knows, maybe we’ll get to check off one of our double date bucket list couples with Dave and Sharon after the radio show. We can dream, right?

You must check out the atrium at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Wonderful and relaxing place to have lunch! The Cascades restaurant has great food and is surrounded by water and waterfalls.

Oh and the Cathedral of the Incarnation. Gorgeous church!
Erica says
You will LOVE Nashville! I second Emily – definitely check out or stay a night in a balcony room at The Opryland Hotel. So gorgeous! I’m sure you’ll spend time down on Broadway Street. Day or night, it’s a fun time!

Burger Up and The Pharmacy for lunch or dinner! Saint Anejo for brunch, and if you don’t get the chicken and waffles, you’re crazy.
Kate says
I agree, The Pharmacy has incredible burgers! My number one place to eat in Nashville is Hattie B’s Hot Chicken. I’m a southerner and it is literally the best fried chicken I have ever had! The Nashville Dominican Convent is beautiful.

Funny- my husband and I are also going on a trip to Nashville on Valentine’s Day weekend for the first time. (I’m a fellow kindergarten teacher and stitch fixer.). I will be reading the other comments to see what people suggest!

Oh Katie, that is so fun! And OH MY GOSH if you see us in a restaurant or on the street, say HI!

Ahhh as soon as I saw the title of this post I knew you must be doing your debt free scream! I am so excited for you!! Crazy Together introduced me to Dave Ramsey, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Now I listen to the Dave Ramsey show everyday on my commute to work, and I’m working with gazelle intensity on Baby Step #2!
Have fun in Nashville! Can’t wait to hear you guys on the show!
Michelle says
See a show Friday or Saturday night at the Grand Ole Opry!

Do anything you want, but make sure you walk down Broadway at night when there are live performances in every restaurant and on every corner! The music will create the perfect, essential Nashville vibe. Also, try on a pair of cowboy boots (just for fun.. you may be surprised!)

Cool! How exciting. I will be interested to hear about Nashville and what you all did there. I am headed there in May for a conference and will have some free time to explore. :)

As a Nashville native and lifelong ballet dancer, if you all are at all interested in dance performances, I HIGHLY recommend checking out their winter contemporary series, which runs that weekend. It’s in collaboration with the Bluebird Cafe this year (a Nashville music staple), and the company is seriously talented. And because it’s contemporary, it’s a great show to see if you’re not into classical ballet.

I only recently stumbled upon your blogs, and I really love how you and your husband approach blogging! I’ve been considering starting a blog for a while, and your helpful how-to posts have been the final kick in the pants to help me actually make moves in that direction. Keep up the great work!

My husband and I are working on baby step 2 and listen to the Dave Ramsey podcast every day! When are you going to be on? That’d be fun to hear your scream!
Melanie Christopherson says
Opps I didn’t read close enough. You answered it in your post. :)
