February Stitch Fix Review, Giveaway and Link-up (#33)

February 1, 2016 By Maria Gavin - 60 Comments

This Stitch Fix experience was a little different than usual. My regular stylist, Layla, was unavailable and I was determined to experiment with my own personal style by giving booties a chance, rather than my usual riding boots. After trying on the first three items, I was completely in love… with both my “guest stylist” and my new booties. If you just arrived and missed out on the first page of this post, click the image below to see the first three items that arrived in my February Stitch Fix shipment. Now let’s get back to it!

Sylvester Split Neck Blouse

Jen also included an emerald Sylvester Split Neck Blouse from Brixon Ivy ($54) in my fix this month. I don’t own a lot of green items and long sleeved blouses aren’t really my favorite since it’s so cold here in Michigan, but this blouse was gorgeous. I loved the details on the sleeves. The cuffs are sewn in and they are lovely.

I kept on the Briley Skinny Jean from Level 99 and added the black Chelsey Fossil watch and my Platinum Drusy Kendra Scott Elisa necklace. The delicate necklace was nicely offset by the split neckline.

I usually have a softer and more traditional style than this. The Toms wedge booties and the dark jewel tone of the blouse were a more modern look than I am accustomed to, but I kinda liked it.

Wanting to push the envelope just a little more, I traded the delicate accessories for a black bib necklace (similar here and here) and a chunky chain link bracelet (similar here and here).

I loved this whole look and I think Rob and I will have to find an excuse to go out for dinner and drinks on a Saturday night so I have an excuse to wear it!

Kaylie French Terry Blazer

I had requested the fifth item in my fix, the Kaylie French Terry Blazer from Tart ($128) after seeing my friend @lifeasalison wear it in this photo on Instagram. I received a gray version of this blazer in my 15th fix and I wear it often. As soon as I heard it was available in different colors, I logged into my Stitch Fix account and begged my stylist to send another color my way.

I completely have Jen to thank for the styling of this outfit. My instinct was to pair the jacket with a soft, neutral color underneath, or perhaps stripes like Alli did. The style card from Jen suggested that I wear the Walden V-Neck Blouse from Fun2Fun that arrived in my 25th fix and that’s just what I did. It was a great suggestion. WOW. The colors.

Seriously, how could anyone not have a blast while wearing this outfit?

The full ensemble looked great with the Briley Skinny Jean from Level 99 that also arrived in my fix and my new black Toms.

I know Jen was just filling in and I’m definitely looking forward to another fix from my regular stylist, Layla, next month, but I have to give Jen major props. Layla set the bar pretty high with all of the previous fixes she styled for me, but Jen rose to the challenge. This was such an amazing fix!

I’m not crazy about that oversized sweater either! Everything else is awesome. I love those TOMS booties too. I’ve been wanting a pair of grey ones and you are making me want them even more…

Hi Jessica! I adore the Toms booties too! If your budget is tight, the Dream Pairs are also a really great similar option!

What color of the Dream Pairs do you have? Did you find they fit true to size or did you order size up? Want to buy them and they have free returns right now! But I have narrow feet so I need advice :) Might want those tan ones and the black! Don’t think I can afford those Tom ones right now

Are the Briley jeans high waisted? I love how well they fit you and might have to try them!!!

Hi Shazia, I know that blouse is gorgeous! I’m not usually one for jewel tones but even I have to agree with you. The jeans are pretty high waisted. They just barely cover up my belly button and they are super-comfortable, unlike my other skinny jeans.

I love that blazer. I just got my second fix and I’m kinda bummed about it. I got a different stylist from last time and I don’t feel like she listened to me. I’m going to have to request that blazer though.

I’m so sad that you had a disappointing fix! If you really want your first stylist to style for you again, you can add a request for your next fix. Hopefully you get the blazer!

I always love your stitch fix posts! I have two questions. 1. In your style profile did you select mostly business casual wear? 2. How do you request a different stylist or one by name? I’ve received two boxes now and they haven’t keyed into my style yet. I’ve kept one item so far from each box so it hasn’t been a complete bomb but I’m a little frustrated. I have a very colorful and specific Pinterest board and I get nothing like what I pin. Advice?

Hi Maria! I’m going to have to stop looking at your Fixes before mine arrive, or I fear my stylist, Liberty, may ban me from your site ;). You really do get some awesome pieces though!

I’m on the fence about buying a pair of Tieks. I love how they look and the reviews are outstanding but wow, are they pricey, even for me! I’m debating between a pair of Tieks and a pair of new the travel/packable Tory Burch flats. Have you seen those or know anyone who has them? I’d love to hear a comparison from an actual owner of both.

Have a great day and thanks for sharing your great finds with all of us :)

What would you think of a similar service but with pre-owned clothing at much cheaper prices, more like an average of $10-$15 instead of $55.00?

I loooove those booties! I also liked the oversized sweater. I think that because you are petite, something more fitting does more for your shape. I have a feeling I’ll be reading tons of your posts for items to request in my next Fix. :)

All of a sudden I’m hearing about Tieks everywhere. Are they worth the splurge? Do they have decent support? I love a great flat.

Hi Emily! I’ve been wearing Tieks for a few years. I personally love wearing them and I think they are worth saving up for. I don’t need a lot of arch support so I can’t give a strong testimony in that area, but I’ve never had an issue in that area. I will say that I have found the basic leather Tieks to be much more comfortable than the fancier printed or patent leather styles, but that’s just me. The other ones have felt too tight on my foot. The one exception is my Lovestruck pair – those are hands-down the most comfortable pair I have ever owned!

I was looking for a really good pair of flats that were cute as well. I ordered the Tieks but wasn’t that impressed. They may fit some people well but weren’t that comfortable for me. =(

Maria, I’ve had SO MUCH FUN looking through your Stitch Fix reviews. I’m a new Stitch Fix fan (just got my first one last week and am already looking forward to the next) and one of my favorite things to do while I’m waiting for my next box is to check out other bloggers’ fixes to see what they request and receive. I’ve made an “oh, wow!” face at every single one of your fixes! Your stylist seems to know you so well. Also, it helps that you do an awesome job styling the pieces you receive. Looking forward to your next review!

Hello CJ and thank you so much for your sweet comment! Stitch Fix reviews are my absolute favorite kind of blog post to write and I’m actually working on my newest review today. It will go live on March 1, so be on the lookout! I know the other bloggers love linking up their styles on the blog too and I hope you have found some new favorites along the way :) And yes, I agree that Layla does, in fact, know me so well!

Hi Maria, I just received the Sylvester Split Neck Blouse by Brixon Ivy and I’m trying to figure out if it’s the size based on how it’s supposed to hang. Yours seems to hang perfectly. Would you mind sharing what size you have? I have a small now. Thanks for your review, it’s really helpful!

Hi Julie, mine is a size small. I find that blouses from Stitch Fix always have room to spare and I think every one I own is a size small. (But I checked and the Sylvester blouse is a size small for sure.)
