January Stitch Fix Review, Giveaway and Link-Up

January 2, 2016 By Maria Gavin - 46 Comments

Let’s ring in the New Year in style – with a January Stitch Fix Review! My 32nd Stitch Fix box arrived in the midst of our holiday celebrations and my personal stylist, Layla, nailed it once again. This particular blog post was a unique first for me because I shot all of the photos for this Stitch Fix review at night. I love shooting photos on a bright sunny day, but it was great to have the option of nighttime photos that are not dark and dominated by shadows. If you’re a fellow blogger that is seeking a solution to your lighting problems on a cloudy day or at night, you definitely want to check out my recent tutorial.

stitch fix-5 But I know why you’re really here, so let’s get right to it. I can’t wait to share my January Stitch Fix Review for you today. (This post contains affiliate links.)

Alessandro Silk V-Neck Blouse

When I saw that Layla had included a floral blouse in my Stitch Fix shipment, I set everything else aside and and reached straight for the Alessandro Silk V-Neck Blouse from Amour Vert For Stitch Fix ($118). Layla reviews my style board on Pinterest every time she curates a fix for me so she knows about my obsession with florals. At first glance, I thought the blouse might be a little “old lady” for my taste. but it had potential so I decided to go ahead and try it on with the Freida Skinny Jeans  that came in my 31st fix. Alessandro Silk V-Neck Blouse from Amour Vert For Stitch Fix - January Stitch Fix The blouse fit perfectly and I started falling in love with it once I tried it on. Michigan may be having an unseasonably warm winter, but I still like to have something warm covering my arms this time of year. A lightweight blouse with 3/4 sleeves isn’t quite warm enough for me. Luckily, the flowers in this blouse provided so many great color options for extra layers. I started by adding a peach sweater from Loft that also had 3/4 length sleeves. It paired beautifully with the Alessandro silk blouse.

I accessorized the outfit with my Jesse ceramic Fossil watch (similar here), my Kendra Scott Grady bracelet and my rose gold Gorjana bracelet. fossil watch and accessories The peach sweater was soft and feminine, but I still wanted to experiment with a weekend look for the blouse. I traded the sweater for the Jalie denim jacket from Liverpool which came in my 9th fix. That settled it. I officially fell in love with the floral blouse.

I purchased mine several years ago. They are Enzo Angiolini brand and are impossible to find in stores today. I did recently find a similar pair on Amazon. If these came in my size, I would buy them in a heartbeat as a backup pair. brown boots There were so many great neutral colors mixed into this floral print. I kept going back into my closet to see what else I could pair with it. I kept the denim jacket and tried on a tan pair of Celebrity Pink skinny jeans. It was another perfect outfit. I love the versatility of this blouse. Despite it’s high price tag, the Alessandro Silk V-Neck Blouse was a definite keeper! Parvin Reversible Tote

Layla also included a Parvin Reversible Tote from Street Level ($58) in my January Stitch Fix shipment. I really don’t need another tote, but I was instantly drawn to this bag. And just look how well it coordinated with my new floral print blouse. Parvin Reversible Tote from Street Level - January Stitch Fix As if the rich brown caramel color wasn’t good enough, this tote just happens to be reversible. I flipped it inside out to reveal the most lovely shade of winter white. I loved the contrast of the white tote with the brown accent details. Parvin Reversible Tote from Street Level - January Stitch Fix Because the tote is reversible, traditional pockets don’t work well with the design. A small coordinating brown handbag came with the tote to hold anything that would traditionally go into a pocket. The handbag itself actually had several pockets and would be great for keeping small items easy-to-locate. Parvin Reversible Tote from Street Level - January Stitch Fix The Parvin Reversible Tote was a definite keeper and the winter white side will help me take a break from dressing in a sea of black and grey during the winter months. I often wish I could get your fixes! The silk blouse and that sweater I am obsessed with!!! When you have a minute, could you tell me the fabric content?
I totally see what you’re saying about the buttons on the back, but its not a deal breaker bc the color is so great on you and the length is perfect. I too have long arms and torso and I am pinning this sweater so many times so my stylist gets the hint;)
Thanks for doing another link up!

Thank you Danielle! I found that little white cabinet at Marshalls a few months ago. All of the cutest small furniture items always come from Marshalls and Home Goods :)

Hi Maria! I am getting ready to order my first stitch fix box, but unfortunately, Layla is not taking any new clients. I love your style and wish I could receive a duplicate of your boxes. Do you work with any other stylist that you like? Thanks!!

      Hi Jen,
I actually JUST received a new fix this weekend and Layla wasn’t available to style for me this time. Someone named Jenn filled in for her and did a wonderful job. Try requesting Jenn next time and see if that helps! And if you want more styles like mine, be sure to pin my Stitch Fix clothes often so your stylist really gets the hint.

I got the same sweater only in a different colorway and my husband and I had the same discussion.. although I thought it was intentional. In the end I couldn’t handle it. I think it’s better in your color than mine.

I received my first fix this month and also received that button back sweater – I love it!! The v is supposed to be off center. I used to have a two-tone grey sweater similar to this with the same off-center v, but no buttons down the back.

I also love that floral top you received – so cute!

Always love taking a peek at your fixes! I also teach at a Catholic school so need appropriate clothes for the classroom that are conservative enough for the school but comfortable enough for Kindergarten! Thanks for all the great ideas you share and photos of pairing your fix items with various pieces you already have! I was excited to see we received an item that was the same this month – the Colorblock Button Back sweater! I agree that the off center V in the back is part of the design rather an a mistake :-) I kept mine too but since I’m fairly short, I decided to unbutton a few of the back buttons and keep it looser on my hips and wear a neutral cami underneath – that worked out pretty well for me since the buttons gapped open a bit at the bottom……..anyway….Thanks again for sharing!

Do you have any posts that share a bit about your Stitch Fix profile. I love what you’re sent, but some of the questions on the profile I was a little unsure about how to answer. For example, how I like to have my tops fit? Straight? Not sure what this response will bring. I’d love to hear a bit about your responses and how to responses led to the boxes you’ve been sent.

Most curious about the fit of tops, the preference of jeans, and how much you want Fix selections to focus on certain occasions.

Hi Bethany! That is a blog post I have been considering for a while. Your question is making me think I should share more information in my style profile soon. I will try and work in a blog post that addresses it sometime in February.

I’ve always loved denim jackets on others but when I try them on it just doesn’t work for me. Sad. Love the orange color block sweater!

Hi Maria! I recently started following your blog and I love your Stitch Fix reviews! I also love that you host a Stitch Fix link up, which I’ve tried to participate in but have had my link taken down. I think it’s because I haven’t included a link back to your post. I just wanted to let you know that i wasn’t intentionally ignoring the directions but I recently switched to a new blogging platform and the website build kept failing when I tried to include your link up button. Hopefully I’ll figure out the issue and participate in future link ups!

      Hi Bernice!
I am so happy that you love the Stitch Fix reviews and that you participate in the link up. My assistant goes through and deletes any blog posts without a backlink AND an image of the Link-Up. You’re welcome add your link back to the collection if you fulfilled both of the requirements. Sometimes weird things happen when you switch platforms. I know how that goes!

Hi Wendy and THANK YOU! Mine weren’t amazing right from the start. It took a while before I was matched with the right stylist and we got into a groove. And even still, she sends items that I don’t always personally love. It’s ok because it pushes me out of my comfort zone. Regardless, I hope your fixes keep getting better!
