I know it’s been a while since you’ve heard from me (Rob), but I’m here to share huge news for us: we have the keys to our new home! Maria and I are renting an adorable house in Royal Oak, one of the coolest suburbs of Detroit.
We’ve been working on painting all weekend, so we’ve been super busy. But we are making great progress and Maria is starting on the last coat in the living room as I type this.
If you’ve been on Instagram lately, you’ve seen that they have added the Stories feature. My Maria, ever the social media bug, has been posting updates of our painting progress all weekend. I wondered the same thing. I never heard of anyone being allowed to paint a rental. Must have a flexible landlord.
Carin and Ann, we’ve been lucky and had very understanding landlords. We’ve rented from individuals, who can be pretty flexible. Also, it helps that we’re pretty much just painting a shade of white, haha!

Thanks, Kelly! It’s a great town, but I do understand about the commute. Mine was an hour each way before we moved here.
