A few weeks ago, my best gal pals treated me to the most amazing girls getaway. I figured out long ago that traditional bachelorette parties (along with many other details that come along with a wedding) are not my style. Thankfully, my Matron of Honor, Kristy, knew exactly what type of girls adventure held the most appeal to me:
a weekend retreat and spa day.
Some family friends graciously gave us the use of their gorgeous summer home on Lake Huron, which served as the perfect backdrop for the festivities.
Although the party didn’t officially begin until Saturday, a few of us decided to drive up on Friday night. We stopped for dinner and drinks at a cafe/coffeehouse/reading corner/cocktail bar in Port Huron, Michigan. The eclectic atmosphere was the perfect kickoff for our girls weekend.
When we arrived at the house, it was pretty late so we opened a few bottles of wine and enjoyed each other’s company before heading to bed for the night.
On Saturday morning I awoke to find the sweetest garland strung across the fireplace mantle and a simple yet delicious breakfast spread.
We took our time getting ready in the morning before heading out to the spa. Of course, there were plenty of light snacks for us to nibble on while we were pampered.
I love a fresh tasting cocktail and mojitos are my very favorite adult beverage. Kristy set up a mojito bar at the spa along with lemon-infused water to keep us hydrated.
Then the real fun began! Two more friends arrived and we treated ourselves to a round of manicures, pedicures and massages for everyone. It was a perfect day!
What bachelorette weekend would be complete without a bright pink plastic goblet that says “BRIDE” in silver rhinestones?
It was such a perfect day for some pampering and I love these girls so much!
When we arrived back at the house, everyone showered and got dressed up for the night.
For dinner, we went to a 5-course wine pairing at a restaurant that overlooked Lake Huron. The owners knew in advance that we were in town for a bachelorette party so they gave us a private table. It was probably for the best :) Even though the gourmet dinner was very elegant, the hot pink bedazzled chalice came along for the ride.
One of my best friends has rightfully earned the nickname “Picky Nicki” because she is one of the fussiest eaters that I know. When dinner was complete, it was obvious that she wasn’t quite full, so the owner brought out a takeout container filled with chicken tenders and french fries, on the house. We all helped her dig in and let me tell you, that food was delicious!
After dinner, we arrived back at the house to sip some more wine and open a few gifts. It was so wonderful to have the calm time with my girls.
And it was really great to have a few laughs!
Speaking of laughs, I have one last photo to share with you from the weekend.
Yup, I think it’s fair to assess that a good time was had by all!
With all of the craziness that goes with wedding planning, moving, merging two homes, teaching kindergarten and preparing for a presentation in Vegas, my girls weekend could not have come at a better time.
I have one last bachelorette party detail to share with you tomorrow. Make sure you stop by again tomorrow for a new batch of photos and a pampering giveaway!
