We know it has been a while since we shared a family update, but it’s been a little busier than usual in the Gavin household. Our beautiful baby girl Dessa Marie arrived on July 13. She has been an absolute blessing in our lives and she couldn’t be any more perfect than she already is.
It has been a busy week filled with lots of joy, a few tears, and complete awe at how we can possibly have so much love someone so tiny and new.
Dessa is one week old today and we just had to celebrate with a photo!
Thank you so much to everyone who expressed their love, concern, and prayers for our growing family. Dessa’s birth story certainly was an adventure unlike anything we’ve ever experienced and we look forward to sharing more of that experience with you in the coming weeks (just as soon as this very exhausted Mama can find the time to sit and collect her thoughts at a computer). In the meantime, we will keep trying to share little glimpses into our new life at home on Instagram stories. Follow our family account @crazytogetherblog or Maria’s teacher account @kindercraze to see what we are up to each day.
In the meantime, here’s one last photo of our baby girl. Maria especially loves this one.
You may recall that we chose to be surprised by the sex of little Dessa and invited our readers to join in the gender-guessing fun a few weeks back. Congratulations to Misty T. – she correctly guessed “girl” and won a $50 Amazon gift card.
We already have a growing list of Dessa-inspired blog posts that we would love to share with you when the time is right. Is there anything in particular that you would love to read about? If so, please feel free to let us know in the comments. We always love to read your thoughts and ideas.
Congrats to you!!! Love the name. You’ll have to write about how you chose her beautiful name. Welcome to the wacky world of parenting. It is pretty amazing and different for everyone. Enjoy these baby days as they grow way too fast!!! Blessings to your family❤️
Thank you so much, Maggie! I hope to share the story of her name soon. As far as parenting goes… it certainly is proving to be quite the adventure so far!
Would love to hear if there is a story behind her beautiful name. And, if Dessa had been a boy, what would you have named the little guy? Totally understand if you’re keeping that secret for the next one!
Congrats to all of you—she is absolutely precious! 💖
Oh what a beautiful baby with an equally gorgeous name! Her skin! I’m envious ;)
Congratulations!
Would love to hear more about your birth story and how you are doing post partum. Do you have relatives staying with you? Any help?
I would like to hear about how having a baby has changed your budget and plans for saving for college, etc. Congratulations!!!
We definitely have a lot to share about that! It’s already on our list, but I am so happy to hear that you are interested in that topic as well.
So many blessings on you all as you begin this wonderful adventure!! I’ve been periodically checking for news…thrilled to see such a beautiful update this evening!
Rejoicing with you in this precious new little one. 💞
Thank you so much Kate, you are too sweet!
Congratulations on your precious new baby! Thanks for the update. I can see that being parents really agrees with you guys. I’d like to read a post on traditions that you hope to have as a family. For example, Christmas and Easter were so special once I had children. My husband and I, we tried to incorporate traditions that we had as children.
That is such a sweet idea for a blog post. I’m not sure what kind of traditions we will start, but now is the time to start figuring those things out I suppose!
She is perfect and what a beautiful name. Maria you look amazing for just having a baby!!
Thank you, Melissa. It’s from the gestational diabetes – you can’t really put on a lot of baby weight if you have to limit your carbs and sugar every day. That was the one (and only) silver lining of my diagnosis.
She is the most beautiful baby girl with even more beautiful porcelain skin….such a blessing! My advice is to enjoy every moment because babies grow SO quickly and seem to change daily! Don’t worry so much about the blogs just yet…if anything, instagram stories will be easy…when you’re both ready and have had that precious sleep all new parents long for! Enjoy her!🌸😍❤️🎀👨👩👧
Thank you so much Erika! I know every mom thinks her baby is beautiful, but I’m pretty sure Dessa is exceptionally beautiful because she does have such perfect skin. I have been enjoying every minute of my time with her and I’m trying to absorb as many tiny baby snuggles as I can before she starts to get big (a thought which already makes me so sad!)
She is a cutie! I can’t believe you had the time to blog. Take your time to rest and enjoy! I know days seem long but weeks come fast. ENJOY IT!
Thank you so much. Fortunately, Dessa is often a good little sleeper and she’s giving me way more rest out of my belly than she did while she was inside!
As a pregnant momma-to-be myself, I would love to hear about your birth story, how you have adapted to being home, and ANY recommendations you have for both.
The birth story is coming. The one reassurance that I can give you right now as you look forward to the birth of your own baby is that it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. We had a little complication at the end (which was brief but traumatic for me) but the doctors did all kinds of crazy things to me during my time in the hospital and I was always expecting it to be worse than it actually was.
Congratulations! She is precious!
Congratulations!!! She is adorable!!! I would love to read how you picked out her name!
Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! She is adorable! Those first weeks go by so quickly, savor every moment!
