Fall has arrived in Michigan! The season was off to an unusually warm start with early October temperatures often reaching into the 80’s. Now that the cool weather has finally set in, we have been enjoying every possible moment of the shortened autumn weather before winter comes. We took Dessa to the apple orchard so she could pick some of her own apples. I had a feeling my little nature lover was going to love apple-picking since it’s basically picking balls off of trees (from her perspective at least), and I was so excited to take this girl to an orchard.

This time last year when Dessa was a newborn, I wanted to stop time forever because I loved my teeny, tiny, cuddly, little baby. I still look back at those newborn photos and wonder what happened to my baby girl, but this age is such a delight. Every new experience is filled with so much wonder. Watching Dessa discover more about the world around her fills my heart with so much joy and I am once again thankful that I have the ability to stay at home and watch her grow.
Dessa loves the great outdoors, but, as it turns out, apple picking wasn’t her favorite activity.
She couldn’t understand why we were so concerned with reaching to pick apples off of the trees when there were so many “perfectly good” apples all over the ground.
She did have fun putting apples into the bag – we just had to keep an eye out and make sure Dessa didn’t try to sneak any rotten apples in with the ones we had picked.
Dessa loved the wide open space of the orchard and was perfectly content to wander around with an apple in her hand.
This girl and her faces! She always looks so serious even though I know she’s having a great time.
The best part about apple picking? Enjoying the fruits of our labor. We let Dessa sample one of the apples before we put her back in the van to head for home. She loved that, too (even though her face says otherwise!)

Blake’s is such a great apple orchard! Definitely one of my favorites in the area.
