Summer is just around the corner and last week we finally had a preview of the warm temperatures ahead. With all of the heat, I was craving a sweet seasonal treat that I could enjoy outside. The fact that I’m 32 weeks pregnant and have gestational diabetes makes it more important than ever that I eat well and take good care of myself – which doesn’t always mesh well with my pregnancy cravings. Thankfully, I discovered ProYo High Protein Low Fat Ice Creams at my local Kroger store. I’m always supposed to balance out my sugar intake with a healthy amount of protein so I knew this was the ice cream treat for me!
I was so excited to finally find a frozen treat that I could enjoy as a guilt-free snack, I just couldn’t keep it to myself. I invited my friend, Stefanie, over to enjoy a little ice creamy goodness with me. Stefanie is also pregnant (due just a few weeks after me) and she happily accepted my invite.
ProYo offers several amazing low fat, high protein ice cream flavors to choose from. I wanted to keep things fresh and add some fruit toppings so I opted for the Vanilla Bean and Blueberry Pomegranate flavors (we saved the Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream for Rob).
I’ve always liked my sweets to be simple, so I enjoyed a serving of Vanilla Bean ice cream, topped with strawberries, blueberries and almond slivers.
It was the perfect treat for a warm spring day. I loved that a single serving fit my dietary limitations and the taste was absolutely delicious!
I can’t even tell you how nice it was to sit outside and enjoy a sweet treat with one of my good friends. Pregnancy can be so tough at times and it was nice for the two of us to indulge in a great-tasting, guilt-free dessert, thanks to ProYo High Protein Low Fat Ice Creams. Stefanie assured me that the Blueberry Pomegranate flavor was also amazing!
This was a particularly hot spring day. So warm, in fact, our ice cream quickly melted. That didn’t matter one bit to us – it tasted equally delicious in liquid form. And the fact that each serving contained 10 grams of protein made ProYo ice cream a far better choice than your typical ice cream treat!
If you’re curious about ProYo High Protein Low Fat Ice Creams, I have great news! All seven flavors are available nationwide at Kroger and Kroger banner stores. Use this store locator to find one near you.
