Today was one of those late-April Michigan days that the weather tried so hard to be nice, but it just didn’t work. Chilly, overcast and on the verge of a sprinkle all day long; I needed an outfit to keep me warm and also feel like spring. Luckily, my newest top extender from Grace & Lace arrived last week and I have been brainstorming how to incorporate it into an outfit. Fashion inspiration finally arrived today. I love it when I find a new ensemble hiding in my closet and today’s look of navy, floral and lace was perfect for a chilly spring day.

I’m trying out something new on the blog today. Rob and I actually sit down and plan all of our blog posts out a month in advance. Today, I’m embracing my inner free-spirit and sharing an unscheduled fashion post just because it was too good not to share. I’d love to know what you think!
Anyway, back to the outfit… you’ve already heard about the top extender. It’s the latest in my growing collection from Grace and Lace. This particular one is a pointed lace extender. I honestly don’t know the exact color, but I think it’s bisque.
I paired the extender with the Lydia Floral Print Key-Hole Blouse from Collective Concepts that I received way back in my 9th fix.
The floral added a little springtime flare to my outfit and this particular top extender was a perfect match. I also love that the top extender added a little extra coverage in the blouse’s keyhole, which made the blouse even more appropriate for work in my kindergarten classroom.
I accessorized the outfit with my Kendra Scott necklace, a white and rose gold tone watch, my Gorjana shimmer bar bracelet. I’ve owned a few of these items for quite some time and I found some similar current items that are avaialbe in-store now. Some are an incredible bargain!
The navy pants are Freida Skinny Jeans from Mavi that arrived in my 31st fix and the cardigan is a few years old from Old Navy. There is no perfect sweater or floral blouse for this ensemble. If you own a great cardigan and a coordinating blouse, you’re all set. I found a few similar pieces online in case you’re on the hunt :)
Of course, if you’re a Stitch Fix customer, you could always pin an image from this post and request the Lydia Floral Print Key-Hole Blouse from your stylist.
And the shoes… well they are Tieks! The Lovestruck pair is my absolute favorite because the metallic look just sort of goes with everything. One day I am going to completely wear these out from all the miles I put on them and on that day I am going to ugly cry all over the place.
(And yes, this pair really is as comfortable as everyone says.)
So now I’ve got to ask… what did you think about today’s post? My Stitch Fix posts are always a hit (you probably stop by check out what arrived in my fix) and I’ve been thinking of sprinkling in a few outfit of the day posts from time to time. I would greatly appreciate any feedback you have to give. After all, Rob and I write on the blog for you. Please leave a comment with your thoughts – we always read every word you take the time to share.
And I’ll see you this Sunday with my newest Stitch Fix box :)

Love the post! Have you written about your tieks? I’m still on the fence since I wear a half size.
I was just thinking about Tieks. Glad to hear you like them. Cute outfit and glad you did this post.
Yes!! I love to see what you pair together! I just ordered my 1st pair of Tieks too…can’t wait for them to come!!
YES!!! Please do more style post. I love to see how you put clothes together and appreciate how down to earth you are (you dress like a fashionable normal person – a total compliment :) ). Thanks!
Yes, would love to see more outfit posts!
Love this post idea, Maria! Please do more. A month is so long for us to wait on fashion inspiration from you. :)
Love seeing how you put outfits together! Day brightener to see this!
Super darling outfit! I LOVE getting inspired by outfits you put together. This is right up my alley of style. I have the same Mavi pants – had returned them on my first fix, though I loved them, so asked for them again and have been SO glad I did. Totally worth the price that I would normally not pay! :o)
Off to the closet to plan an outfit for tomorrow’s day in pre-K!
I just started following you and your delightful blog. I love your stitch fix posts. I’ve just received my 5th fix. I’m not nearly as stylish as you, so I’m learning about how to style pieces, critique them, and give quality feedback. Thanks for your detailed posts! They’re lovely and informative. Please do include other outfit posts! They give added inspiration
(I’ve just purchased a top extender thanks to your recommendation. Now I need tips on how to wear it!!)
I always enjoy more of your posts, no matter what they are! :)
Love the outfit post! Keep em coming! We have similar styles and I love getting inspiration from you. Have you ever done a post about your Tieks? I know you are a budget friendly blog so I am sure you must love them, as they are pretty pricey. I am big believer in paying for quality if it will last, but I would love to hear your thoughts and how you made the decision to go for it with them.
Love this post!
Yes, I agree with the others, and always love all of your style blog posts! I think I may be too old for the extender, but I think it an adorable idea (50’s). I follow several blogs of younger ladies like yourself to try to keep current. Also, as much as I love the ballet flats (Tieks), I personally would have a difficult time purchasing such an expensive shoe. Still I do appreciate that you blend the pricey items with clothes in every price range. Keep it up!
Kim, I’ll be 50 this fall and I just wore a lace extender today. Go for it!
Oh, YES!! I would vote you “Most Pinnable Blogger” if I could ;) …so the more fashion posts, the better.
I’m a mom of two little ones ~ former daycare-giver, then K3 teacher ~ and your style of lady-like/comfortable/modest is so relatable for my life and preferences.
Thanks for all the time you put into your fashion and Stitch Fix posts.
Blessings!
Yes would love more posts like this – why have I not heard of Tieks before??? I must get a pair – am thinking Rose Gold Glam :) – thanks for this post.
Such a cute outfit! I have to check out those lace extenders, such a good idea.
yes yes yes for real outfit posts! I love how you put things together!
LOVE this post! I love the outfit posts… keep em coming!
Such a fun post! Would love to see more!
Thank you! I’m hoping to share more soon. My closet is filled with lots of old items. As I buy new pieces I plan to blog about them :)
