We have exciting news from the Gavin home front … we’re moving to a new home! After a wonderful year of living in the little condo that has served as our first home, the time has come for us to step forward into a new nest. We are so excited to tell you all about it (and probably answer a few of your curiosities, as well)!
First of all, we are still choosing to rent. Homeownership is something we are choosing to delay and it will be worth it in the end. But instead of a two bedroom condo, we will be moving into a three bedroom house about 25 minutes away from where we currently live. No, our family isn’t ready to expand just yet. Don’t let the baggy shirt fool you. It’s still just the two of us (and will be for at least the next 10 months).
We have loved living in our condo for the past year but it’s time for a change. We are very excited that our new home will feature an actual backyard with a cute little patio. Rob’s looking forward to his detached garage with plenty of extra space so he can actually use his workbench while the car is parked inside the garage. As for me, I’m very excited about having a kitchen with a window that gets natural light.
But those aren’t the only changes that our new house will bring. We are actually downgrading our living space as we move out of a 1,300 square foot condo and into a 1,000 square foot bungalow. I’m not going to deny the fact that I am very concerned about where I will store my walk-in closet full of clothes. The house has a serious lack of closets; but what it lacks in effective clothing storage, it makes up for in charm.
We’ve already decided that the room on the 2nd level of the bungalow will serve as our office and I’ve been daydreaming about the new digs. I’m kind of adoring this home office setup from Style Your Senses.
In reality, our new home office will probably look very similar to our current office, but I’m adding fresh pins to my Work from Home Pinterest board just in case :)
Rob and I have absolutely no idea what the future has in store for us. It feels like we are reaching a point in our lives where there are so many possible courses ahead of us. We think we know how things will end up, but you never can tell.
Until then, we are happy to rent and plan and save for our forever home. We sign our new lease on August 8 and we promise to fill you in on all of the details as they develop. The next month promises to be very busy, but we are overjoyed to be sharing the adventure together.
