I can’t believe it’s already August and time for this teacher to get ready to head back into the classroom. Thank goodness for Stitch Fix! My stylist, Layla, sent some fabulous items to keep me looking my best as I prepare to head back to school. Being a kindergarten teacher never looked so fashionable. Of course, the styles are pretty great for non-teachers, too. You may have caught my sneak peek video on Facebook earlier this month. I’m so excited to share a complete review of what arrived in my fix this month with you.

We can talk more about that later – right after I share my August Stitch Fix review. Let’s dive right in.
Lideea Dress from Donna Morgan
As soon as I laid eyes on the Lideea Dress from Donna Morgan ($158) that Layla included in my fix, I knew I had to try it on! A floral dress with pockets that’s long enough to actually touch my knees is exactly my style. The dress was a great fit and the cool, lightweight fabric is perfect for summer.
I also adore the wide band of navy blue fabric that runs along the hemline. This was such a fun detail that gives the dress a special touch. Since the dress carried a classic style, all I added was a blue and gold statement necklace (similar here and here), a few simple bracelets, and nude heels (similar) to complete the look. Perfection.
The floral print was very sweet and I was a little surprised to see a casual coordinating print on the back of the dress. The stripes didn’t have as much charm as the primary dress fabric and I wasn’t a huge fan, but I did like the idea of a different pattern in the back. It was still an interesting detail, even if it wasn’t my favorite print.
As you probably already know, I like my clothes to be multi-functional. I’m always looking for ways that I can dress pieces up or down for a variety of occasions. This dress was long enough to wear to school, but it was a little too dressy for a regular school day. To remedy the problem, I added a dark wash denim jacket from Old Navy (a staple for any woman’s closet). The jacket instantly transformed the dress into something a little less fancy. Mission accomplished.
Yes, this was definitely a keeper! It’s so rare to find a dress that touches my knees, there was no way I was going to send it back.
Update! As I was working on this post, I noticed that the dress is currently on major clearance at Lord & Taylor. They only have a few sizes available, but you might want to check it out if you love it as much as I do.
Lynden Satchel from Urban Expressions
I had recently pinned a gorgeous mint green zipper satchel from Urban Expressions to my style board and begged Layla to please send that purse my way. She didn’t send the exact handbag that I requested, but the mint Lynden Satchel from Urban Expressions ($58) that Layla included in my fix was an excellent substitute.
The bag has a few zipper details along the sizes and is large enough to hold all of my essentials on the go.
It also helped that the purse coordinated so well with the dress I had just fallen in love with!
This bag was also a keeper. So far my fix was off to a great start!
Catarina Knit Top from Papermoon
I’ve recently become downright obsessed with the color mint and somehow Layla managed to tune right into all of my warm, fuzzy feelings for the cool summer color. My eyes lit up when I saw the mint stripped Catarina Knit Top from Papermoon ($44) that she also included in my fix. I already own many beautiful Stitch Fix blouses, but my wardrobe is in need of more classic casual tops. I asked Layla to please send some cotton tops with sleeves my way and I was overjoyed to see that she could accommodate my request.
I kept the look clean and simple and styled the top with white ankle pants (similar), white sandals, a basic layering tank, my bargain statement necklace and my Kate Spade watch.
I also added my denim jacket and the Lynden Satchel from Urban Expressions. This entire look makes my teacher heart so happy. It’s the perfect preppy style.
Just like the other two items I had already tried on, I quickly decided to keep the Catarina Knit Top.
